The quality of smart water monitor plays an important role in water environment monitoring. Therefore, in order to protect the water environment, it is necessary to strengthen the monitoring of sewage discharge.
At present, the main method for garbage treatment is sanitary landfill, which is an open-air operation. After compaction, with the decomposition of organisms in the garbage and rain and snow, rainwater and snow water will penetrate into the landfill area, which will produce landfill leachate. If we do not dispose of it directly into the water, it will seriously pollute the local water environment.
The working principle of smart water monitor
There are two types of sewage treatment plant monitors :pH meters and dissolved oxygen analyzers.
Working principle of pH meter
The pH of water varies with the amount of substance dissolved, so pH is a sensitive indicator of the quality of the effluent. The change of pH value has a great impact on the reproduction and survival of organisms, but also seriously affects the biochemical effect of activated sludge, that is, affects the treatment effect. The pH value of sewage is generally between 6.5 and 7.
The pH value is usually measured by the potentiometric method. The galvanic cell is usually composed of a potentiostatic reference electrode and a measuring electrode. The size of the electromotive force of the galvanic cell depends on the concentration of hydrogen ions, and also depends on the pH of the solution.
The measuring electrode has a special Ph-sensitive glass probe that conducts electricity and penetrates hydrogen ions. Ph electrode has the characteristics of high measuring accuracy and good anti-interference.
When the glass probe comes into contact with hydrogen ions, a potential is generated. As the pH changes, so does the potential that’s generated. The pH value is converted through a transmitter into a standard 4 to 20mA output.
Working principle of dissolved oxygen analyzer
The oxygen content of the water is a good indication of the degree of self-purification. For biological treatment plants using activated sludge, it is important to know the oxygen content of aeration tanks and oxidation ditches.
The addition of dissolved oxygen in sewage can remove volatile substances and ions which are easy to be oxidized naturally, so that sewage can be purified.
There are three main methods for the determination of oxygen content: automatic colorimetric analysis and chemical analysis measurement, paramagnetic measurement and electrochemical measurement.
Electrochemical determination of dissolved oxygen in water. Oxygen is soluble in water, and its solubility depends on the
temperature, the total and partial pressure of the water surface, and the salts dissolved in the water.
